We’re looking for a sales engineer, focused on custom-fitting Vital’s suite of solutions to each individual client, to join our remote-first team. You will be an expert in Vital’s solutions and features, serving as a guide for prospects & clients to understand technical requirements to achieve success within the solution suite.

You will be advising clients throughout the sales and implementation processes, liaising between the sales team, the client services team, and client representatives to drive technical sales opportunities to closure.

Vital builds software for care teams & patients, with a focus on the Emergency Room (ER) experience. We use artificial intelligence and machine learning to reduce length of stay, save millions by increasing doctors’ and nurses’ productivity, and keep patients safe & happy. There are more than 140 million visits to the ER every year in the US. Our mission is to improve the healthcare experience for these patients.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Strategize and work closely with the Sales team to align on objectives of client meetings, prioritize opportunities and provide technical solution leadership for sales opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to prospects, customers, and Vital’s client-facing teams throughout the customer journey.
  • Leverage technical discovery sessions to collect, analyze, clarify, and document goals and challenges to define core business requirements.
  • Present solution proposals, business benefits, competitive advantages, and how Vital’s solutions can meet clients' current and future needs based on client data and product requirements.
  • Develop and communicate standards, best practices, and prescriptive guidance on the use of Vital’s solutions.
  • Provide expertise on clinical and operational process and workflow, and indicate how Vital’s solutions can assist with this effort.
  • Craft and deliver Vital technical and feature solution proposals, mutual success plans, and implementation timelines that account for client data requirements and build a roadmap for long term success.
  • Become a trusted advisor for client accounts, providing practical guidance in the value of proposed solutions and setting expectations with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and continually refine deep product knowledge of the full suite of Vital solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver product proposals, technical documentation, and statements of work (SOWs).
  • Work closely with the Client Services team, Engineering team, Product team, and Sales Team to strategize on opportunities, cross-training, and knowledge transfer.
  • Partner with product, sales, and client services to enhance Vital’s solution suite and provide value to our customers, with emphasis on client priorities during every decision made.
  • 3 years experience in a sales engineer/data analyst/data engineer role for data-intensive, scalable, high throughput platforms and applications (leveraging knowledge of healthcare standards, data marts, newer technologies, and engineering practices)
  • Experienced in working in a client-facing role, ideally in a pre-or post-sales support role
  • Experience with both existing and emerging interoperability standards such as HL7 V2.x, as well as CCD, C - CDA XML V3, IHE profile, FHIR (desirable)
  • Knowledge of FHIR, REST and web services APIs, big data, MLAI
  • Good understanding of software/SaaS sales cycle and strategies
  • Clear, concise communicator who is able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Detail oriented & hyper-organized learner, jumping into the weeds to fully understand products and clients
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • High initiative: sense of urgency and self-motivation
  • Customer advocate and strategic thinker
  • Positive attitude, collaborative team player
  • Jira, Confluence, Google Suite, HubSpot, GitHub proficient
  • Periodic travel may be required
