About this role
The Transcarent Data Science and Health Economics Organization empowers the company and market to make data-driven decisions and provides best in class advanced analytics, benchmarking, savings modeling, unrivaled experiences and accountability to both our members and employer health plan sponsors. We are seeking a talented and motivated technical expert with a business minded focus to support analysis and benchmarking of value based bundles and savings analyses.
The Director of Health Economic Analytics will work closely with Reporting Analytics, Provider Contracting, Finance, Strategy and Innovation, and external consultants. You will empower self-funded employer clients and their actuarial experts and consultants with real world data analytics and insights to prospective Transcarent’s financial and health impact. A successful candidate will be a collaborative partner, thought leader, passionate about changing US healthcare market dynamics, intellectually curious about novel use cases for healthcare data, and an expert on health care unit cost, trend, and benchmarking for financial program impact. You will have a meaningful role with high visibility with leaders across the healthcare industry and the opportunity to shape the future of how value-based and accountable “health and care” experiences are offered.
What you’ll do
- Enhance and execute benchmarking, unit cost savings, and trend analyses for value based care.
- Execute or lead the execution of client specific program impact and savings analytics at scale to meet business needs and present findings to current clients and their experts.
- Provide thought leadership across the company and externally on analytical applications and translations of Transcarent’s value to the market.
- Support Finance with sensitivity modeling of trended financial program impact to actual.
- Partner closely with internal actuaries as team interface with senior finance team and deal desk on pricing alignment and financial and risk projections.
- Master and continuously improve our retrospective savings model, understanding of our business levers driving savings, and value quantification methods for holding our partners accountable for exceptional health and financial outcomes leveraging healthcare claims data, industry benchmarks, digital engagement data, third party point solution member utilization data, operational data, healthcare provider quality data, market benchmarking data, social determinants of health data, and any other interesting data we can acquire!
- Continually learn about the company and product priorities by partnering closely with leadership and business stakeholders to embrace a culture of measurement and hypothesis-driven innovation; help stakeholders identify analytical solutions to prospective client questions.
- Drive alignment across the company on our value proposition methodology and the impact that has on internal KPIs and client reporting.
- Understand how to identify, acquire, and utilize data sources to answer specific business questions.
- Support data fluency throughout the organization through standardized measurement techniques, compelling business insights, proactively sharing your knowledge of the data with others by means authentic to you and developing and maintaining data documentation for your work and underlying data sources.
- Collaborate with Strategy and Innovation, Analytics, Data Science, and Product on how to quantify value for our continued release of new, innovative clinical solutions.
- Grow channel relationships and credibility with industry experts, consultant actuaries, and client teams.
What we’re looking for
- Focus on data-driven decision making and learning by experimentation.
- Ability to present analytical findings to employer clients and industry experts.
- Deep expertise with healthcare data including claims, eligibility, utilization, and cost data.
- Applied health economics, epidemiology, healthcare actuary, and/or health program outcomes evaluation and research experience.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Stakeholder management, sometimes with competing priorities and hard deadlines.
- Experience explaining and defending quantitative methodologies and their tradeoffs within a business setting.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience leading technical teams.
- Ability to know when and how to balance the tradeoff between perfect solutions and ‘good enough’ solutions.
- Ability and willingness to learn/develop new data source identification/acquisition, data collection and ETL techniques and data analysis tools as needed.
- Intrinsic interest in continuous learning and teaching colleagues.
- Education/Experience:
- One or more degrees in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, or other quantitative fields
- 12 to 20 years work experience in various analytical roles (such as research scientist, biostatistics, healthcare consulting, HEOR, actuarial science, etc.)
- 10+ years experience with presentation of analytics to senior leaders
- 8+ years experience in complex analysis development and stakeholder management
- 6+ years managing direct reports executing analytics
Nice to have
- Client facing and/or consulting experience
- Experience with statistical coding and software packages
- Experience with querying/accessing data from data warehouses
- Experience with healthcare economics, outcomes, and/or actuarial concepts
- Experience in a Health Tech start up environment
- Passion for understanding the incentives of healthcare plan members, the self-funded employer experience, and optimizing for both
- Experience as an innovator executing at-risk and value-based health plan modeling
- Comfort presenting your findings and willingness to share your time and skills to better those around you
Total Rewards
Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal equity.
Salary is just one component of Transcarent's total package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock options.
