About the role
We’re looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Payment Operations Manager to join our Rippling Payments UK team. This person will bring deep knowledge of electronic money institutions (EMIs) and global payment operations, having spent at least 5 years in a regulated EMI environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth execution and oversight of our day-to-day payment operations. You’ll ensure we meet all internal SLAs, regulatory expectations, and partner requirements through best-in-class monitoring, escalation handling, and reporting. You will collaborate closely with compliance, product, engineering, and support teams to ensure incidents are managed effectively and systemic improvements are identified and implemented.
What you will do
- Oversee the daily operations of payment flows including outbound and inbound payments monitoring and exception handling
- Monitor payment processing systems and dashboards to identify issues in real-time
- Act as a first line of escalation for payment-related issues and incidents, working across teams to triage and resolve issues
- Manage operational incidents end-to-end, including root cause analysis and reporting to internal stakeholders and regulators where appropriate
- Liaise with internal and external payment partners to ensure SLAs and performance standards are met
- Maintain strong documentation around processes, controls, and incident history
- Partner with Compliance and Risk to ensure all operations meet regulatory expectations
- Produce monthly operational reports, identifying trends, KPIs, and areas for improvement
- Support audits and examinations, including preparing operational evidence and walkthroughs
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to drive process automation and improve system resilience
What you will need
- 5+ years of experience in payment operations within an Electronic Money Institution or similar regulated payments environment
- Deep understanding of payment schemes, processing flows, and reconciliation processes (e.g., BACs, Faster Payments, SEPA, SEPAINST)
- Previous experience working in a multinational technology company, ideally with a fast-paced or scaling environment
- Strong understanding of regulatory expectations for operational resilience and incident handling
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with an ability to summarise complex issues clearly
- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Comfort working cross-functionally with Compliance, Product, Support, Engineering, and external partners
- Experience managing and reporting on operational KPIs and incidents
- A strong sense of ownership and drive to continually improve operational performance
Nice to Have
- Experience with API-based and file-based payment integrations
- Familiarity with UK FCA and EU e-money regulatory frameworks
