About the role
We're looking for an experienced payroll specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.
As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to develop new muscles around global product operations and country-specific payroll expertise outside of the US.
This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is a critical hire for the Global Payroll Operations team that will be fully dedicated to developing and executing these new capabilities. This role will own all operational aspects within France, which includes collaborating with R&D teams to improve the payroll product, providing insights into payroll scenarios and calculations, and issue resolution on behalf of our customers. Additionally, this role brings critical country-specific payroll expertise to support the development of our natively built payroll software.
This is an exciting role that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with a major impact on the product and customer experience.
Fluent French and English, both written and verbal, is a must-have for this position.
What you will do
- Ensure compliance: Manage and execute timely tax and social contribution filings and payments for all French clients, including automated DSN (Déclaration Sociale Nominative) generation, compliance, and troubleshooting.
- Product collaboration: Work closely with Global Payroll Engineering and Product teams to ensure our payroll software fully supports compliance needs in France. This includes identifying and solving product issues, documenting technical requirements, and helping prioritize internal tooling.
- Customer support & issue resolution: Act as a point of escalation for complex payroll issues, collaborating with government agencies such as URSSAF and DGFIP to resolve client cases and tax notices.
- Process improvement: Drive initiatives to improve efficiency in payroll processes through automation, optimizing tax filing and payment workflows to support Rippling’s scale and growth in the French market.
- Documentation & training: Develop and maintain documentation on DSN and other compliance requirements for internal teams, while providing training on French payroll standards to ensure consistency and accuracy.
What you will need
- Deep knowledge of French payroll and compliance: Comprehensive expertise in French payroll, including DSN structure and reporting, social contributions, benefit calculations, filing and payment requirements, and tax notice resolution.
- Technical expertise in payroll software development: Proven experience in payroll software development or significant involvement with engineering and product teams, ideally in an early-stage or fast-paced environment. Understanding of DSN automated generation within a software context is a strong plus.
- Client-Facing experience: Minimum of 3+ years in a client-focused role, ideally in direct payroll processing, with an excellent grasp of French payroll systems.
- Collaboration with regulatory agencies: Experience working with French authorities such as DGFIP, URSSAF, and other social security bodies, with strong communication skills for regulatory interactions.
- Analytical skills: Proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Office (especially Docs/Sheets/Excel) for data analysis and task management; familiarity with Salesforce, JIRA, and Confluence is a plus.
- Communication skills: Fluent in both English and French, with strong written and verbal abilities to work cross-functionally and client-facing.
- Project management and organizational skills: Ability to manage complex workstreams autonomously, prioritize and resolve support tickets, and deliver high-quality, detail-oriented work with strong time management.
