About the role
The Risk Operations Sr. Analyst will drive the day-to-day operations of managing our risk controls and executing risk assessments to mitigate both fraud, and operational risks across all of our customers. This role will require impeccable attention to detail, clear communication skills, and decisiveness in making key risk decisions on a daily basis. You will own the operational aspects of performing risk assessments on all of our customers, managing credit risk exposures, responding to automated alerts, working with cross-functional partners to optimize product controls, and dashboard reporting. This is an exciting opportunity that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with major impacts on multiple Products and the customer experience.
What you will do
- Primarily responsible for conducting escalated risk assessments on customers - monitoring their subsequent behavior and transactions for fraud, account takeover, and operational risks - all while ensuring adherence to risk policy and SLAs
- Act as primary point of contact for the Fraud risk team in responding to internal stakeholders, and investigate/triaging risk-related incidents or customer escalations. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and customers to complete risk assessments and resolve risk issues.
- Become subject-matter expert in customer risk controls & customers experience, and coordinate with Customer Experience, Sales, and Product / Engineering teams to resolve customer technical issues where necessary
- Develop and maintain help center articles with regards to customer risk experience; identify gaps in current systems, policies and strategies to recommend product enhancement and/or internal process improvements
- Monitor team operations, as needed, and surface issues/needs to team leadership
What you will need
- 5+ years risk operational experience in a fast-paced identity, fraud, compliance, or risk role within the payments, or fintech space - ideally at a fast-growing, scaling startup
- Demonstrated understanding of modern digital identity, fraud patterns/exposure, and account takeovers
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills - must be able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- History of ownership & accountability - you hold yourself accountable for delivery and take pride in ownership of your function/work
- Intellectually curious - enjoy "peeling back the onion" to understand situations below surface-level
- Organized & attentive to detail - we expect that you will be able to follow our policy, exercise independent judgment where policy doesn't exist, and recognize & surface opportunities to improve upon existing policy
- Excellent communication skills and adept at messaging upwards, you communicate with a high degree of professionalism in written / messaged comms while able to act assertively and with tact on complex and sensitive issues
- Comfort operating in an ambiguous & quickly changing environment with shifting priorities
- SQL experience is preferred
