About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function of our Growth Squads globally, spanning teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC. This role will directly manage a mix of software engineers and other engineering managers, creating a scalable growth engineering practice. This is a high-impact leadership role where your ability to balance experimentation speed with engineering excellence will accelerate Remitly's revenue and customer growth. This leader will report directly to the Director of Remittance Transfer Experience. You will work hybrid from our Seattle headquarters.

You Will:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Build and lead regional growth engineering squads aligned to Remitly's growth targets.
    • Collaborate with product, design, analytics, marketing, and other platform teams to drive the growth squad's vision and roadmap.
    • Act as a thought partner to senior product and business leaders on how to balance growth experiments and sustainable platform improvements.
    • Be accountable for driving incremental revenue through engineering-led experimentation.
    People Management
    • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers and managers across multiple regions.
    • Foster a high-performance, inclusive team culture built on autonomy, transparency, and fast learning.
    • Hire, onboard, and grow engineering talent to scale the Growth Squad charter.
    Technical Execution & Process
    • Own the engineering execution for rapid experimentation, ensuring code quality and system integrity even in fast-paced iterations.
    • Empower teams to work across codebases and business domains, driving alignment with code owners and platform teams.
    • Establish engineering best practices for experimentation (clean rollbacks, telemetry instrumentation, A/B testing frameworks, rapid MVP builds).
    • Implement rituals (sprint planning, retrospectives, experiment reviews) to drive high-velocity, high-quality releases.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years of experience of building and managing diverse and empowered teams.
  • Track record of leading growth engineering or product experimentation teams, ideally in a tech-driven, consumer-focused company.
  • Passion for data-driven product development and rigorous experimentation.
  • Strong technical background (ideally full-stack) with an ability to dive into code and architecture when needed.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across regions and time zones.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and experience communicating updates and resolutions to partners and executives.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $193,6000 -$240,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
