Remitly is hiring for a Partner Account Manager, Francophone Africa. The key responsibility for this role is to drive excellent commercial, product and operational performance of the largest and most strategic money movement partners for North and West Africa. Such partners may include banks, aggregators, mobile wallets, regulators and other third parties. There are two other dimensions to this role, you will assist with aspects of new partner onboarding working closely with the Business Development lead for the region, and support stakeholder management for regulators in key markets.
The ideal candidate will have a strong functional background in strategic partner management with part of that experience (3-5 years) in the payments or remittance space & a strong understanding of the payments ecosystem across the North and West Africa region.
In this role you will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, marketing, operations, finance, and regulatory reps to evolve and manage partnerships.

The candidate should be comfortable with technical and financial aspects, and able to effectively communicate up and down a management ladder. The candidate should also be excited by the potential of existing partnerships to deliver best in class end customer experiences and meet mutual partnership objectives. Additionally, they should enjoy a team-oriented environment, and cross-functional collaboration.
You Will:
- Jointly drive regional strategy with BD lead and develop and own a tiered partner strategy and an annual plan for a core set of existing partners in North and West Africa
- Engage in quarterly planning exercise with cross functional teams including product and treasury to develop goals and priorities for these partners
- Own and drive initiatives with key strategic partners— drive key metrics including cost efficiencies, speed, quality, working capital efficiencies and new product enablement.
- Negotiate renewals, amendments, economics and expand product footprint while driving partnerships growth
- Identify opportunities for growth and optimisation using analysis and insights, and rigorously balance short- and long-term results.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with largest partners for the region and develop action plans for improvement
- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory authorities, and industry associations who influence the ecosystem and ensure they understand Remitly's mission and positioning.
- Provide strategic insights on how government/regulator relations efforts can contribute to maintaining a competitive edge in the market - work includes analysing legislative and regulatory developments in the sector and providing recommendations to internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal teams to align government/regulators relations efforts with broader business objectives.
- Work closely across internal teams to navigate challenges and mitigate risks associated with the competitive industry environment.
- Coordinate responses through relevant teams to inbound and outbound queries related to partner operations and performance
- Serve as the point of contact for resolving complex partner escalations (e.g., financial, operational, technical, regulatory, etc.).
- Analyze partner scorecards, metrics, and assessments to drive continuous improvement.
- Liaise with relevant Remitly teams to orchestrate the successful onboarding of new partners, e.g.design flow of funds with Treasury team, open new accounts payable setup, etc
You Have:
- 5 - 7+ years of strategic partnerships experience, preferably some of of which is in Remittance / Payments space
- Multilingual and fluent French speaker a must.
- Robust understanding of consumer payments and cross border money movements
- Good understanding of the West and North Africa remittance and payments landscape
- Demonstrated cross-functional communication skills and relationship building experience with commercial, product, legal and compliance teams
- Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
- Exposure to government and/or regulators relations or lobbying work in a highly competitive and regulated industry with a proven track record of impactful outcomes
- Self-motivated and curious - desire to understand the Remitly customer, and translate these learnings into strategies.
- An action-oriented and strategic leader who is comfortable bringing structure and strategy across different opportunities and environments
- Anticipates future market, business or product problems and sets the organization up to succeed in advance.
- Experience and willingness to travel, and potentially extensively
- BS/BA required, MBA highly desirable
