About the Role:
As a Backend Engineer at Remitly Tel Aviv, you will have the opportunity to build innovative products that affect our customers' lives directly, act as a developer on mission-critical systems, and build top-notch consumer-facing applications serving millions of users using the most advanced technologies.
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced Software Engineer to join our R&D team to build our products and services to support new initiatives at Remitly running from the Tel Aviv office.
You Will:
Develop Scalable Systems: Build performant and scalable systems capable of serving over a million monthly customers, all while optimizing for minimal computing requirements.
Deliver Reliable Financial Services: Design, build, and maintain highly available financial services with a strong focus on data integrity and security. Be a key contributor to developing the next generation of Remitly's products from the ground up.
Lead and Mentor: Serve as the technical lead for your team, mentoring colleagues, driving cross-team initiatives, and facilitating complex design discussions.
Focus on Distributed Systems: Design and implement resilient distributed systems that meet stringent performance and data integrity requirements.
Drive Payment Solutions: Take ownership of payment systems, collaborating with multiple providers and gaining a deep understanding of the global financial ecosystem.
You Have:
8+ years of experience building and delivering production-quality code, with experience shipping robust and scalable software solutions.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
Proved experience in building of modern distributed architecture, working with cloud services, message brokers and different database systems
Experience building complex systems and deploying them to production, using modern languages such as Node.js, Python, or Go.
Deep knowledge of API standards such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and best practices for API design and integration.
Proficiency with databases, both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DyanmoDB), with an understanding of trade-offs between them.
Passion for creating exceptional user experiences, as a backend engineer you have accountability on performance and error flows
A proactive mindset, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, constantly seeking opportunities to improve systems and processes.
Leadership skills, with experience in mentoring team members, influencing technical decisions, and collaborating across global teams.
Commitment to quality, including experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
Familiarity with modern frontend technologies, such as React, React Native, Vue.js, Svelte, or similar frameworks, with an understanding of their integration with backend systems.
Experience working on B2C applications, with a focus on delivering seamless user experiences at scale.
