About the Role:

As a Staff Software Engineer at Remitly, you will be reporting to the Sr. Manager for Treasury Engineering. You will build resilient and scalable systems and data flows that allow Treasury operations to manage and automate foreign exchange trading, cash transfers, and disbursement of funds so we can fulfill our mission to transform lives through trusted financial services. You will help set the team vision and technical roadmap for the Treasury team.

You Will:

  • Craft/refine the technical vision for the team and oversee its delivery

  • Become an expert with tools and programming languages, engineering processes used within Treasury Engineering team in a scalable cloud-based architecture

  • Set the standard for delivering well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient code

  • Collaborate with engineers across the company to improve coding and architectural standards

  • Write technical specification and participate in design reviews

  • Work with Treasury's Product Manager to estimate and break down projects

  • Mentor other engineers in the team and the broader organization

  • Interview and help ramp new hires

You Have:

  • 7+ years experience in building consumer software products

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience

  • Proficient in shipping scalable, reusable, understandable code

  • Comfortable building, shipping, and maintaining services and systems on AWS

  • Proficient in 2+ programming languages like Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, Go and SQL (MySQL preferred)

  • Proficient in Docker, Kubernetes, or other orchestration tools

  • Proficient in technical architecture and system design concepts

  • Experience with distributed version control systems (Git)

  • Familiarity with common software architecture and design principles (e.g., Software "ilities", 12-factor app, etc.)

  • (Preferred) Experience managing large financial data ETL in batch or streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)

  • (Preferred) Deep experience in finance tech, banking, remittance, or treasury systems

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $187,500 - $202,500. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
