Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Internal Controls Testing will drive the development of the Compliance Control Library and once developed will oversee the planning, design, and execution of testing projects. You will be responsible for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of our internal controls and report on these findings to senior management with your recommendations. You will work closely with senior members of the Internal Controls Testing team to evaluate and communicate compliance risk, and help define annual testing priorities. You will also manage testing projects and in instances where observations are made, you will collaborate with process owners to develop remediation actions and timelines for completion. You will be responsible for supervising staff assigned to the testing projects including providing feedback and coaching on the project deliverables. This role will report to the Head of Global Compliance Internal Testing and will be based in Seattle or US Remote. #LI-Remote

About the Role:

You will play an important role in providing assurance and advisory services and your responsibilities will include:

  • Drive Advisory projects to build the Compliance Control Library.

  • Manage advisory and assurance compliance testing projects in line with the Remitly Compliance Annual Testing plan.

  • Manage and mentor analysts and drive forward activities associated to advisory and assurance planning, fieldwork, and reporting in support of testing projects.

  • Interface between Compliance and business units in order to align on how compliance requirements are operationalized.

  • Manage end-to-end testing lifecycle, including test planning, fieldwork, reporting, and remediation validation/tracking.

  • Evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls.

  • Prepare reports to document testing scope as part of the planning process and testing memos at the completion of each review to include controls tested, control ratings, observations, and recommendations.

  • Communicate with and educate process owners effectively on the importance of controls, an effective control environment, and the role of Internal Controls Testing.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in AML/CTF, Consumer Protection, and Consumer Fraud regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

You Will:

  • 10+ years of experience with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and identification of risks in the following areas: Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF), Consumer Protection, and Consumer Fraud.

  • 10+ years of experience working in Compliance Internal Controls Testing, Internal Audit, or regulatory examinations with a financial services company, Fintech, consulting firm, or financial services regulator.

  • Experience documenting controls from the review of policies, procedures, processes, and/or walkthroughs when documentation is limited or non-existent.

  • Experience creating and ongoing-management of a compliance control library.

  • Experience managing multiple testing projects in the financial services regulatory/risk management space.

  • Experience communicating risks and resulting mitigations to process owners.

  • Experience providing consultancy services, change management, and process improvement projects.

  • 7+ years of experience supervising and mentoring staff.

  • Experience with data analytics, data analytics tools, and audit management systems.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically$128,000- $160,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
